Consultation

Joanne Jouvin & Clint Robson are currently offering 1:1 consultation by request in addition to scheduled group consultations

There is no downside to bringing a case to a colleague or clinical consultation group for feedback and support. But too often, clinicians do not get the help they need. Either they don’t know of a safe place to turn, or fear holds them back. As clinicians, one of the ways we learn most effectively is by working with other clinicians in peer consultation. Exploring challenges in clinical cases, difficult work situations, and our own responses in an environment that is respectful and collaborative contributes greatly to all of our case formulation and intervention.

Consultation involves a collaborative discussion rather than the offering and receiving of advice. Sometimes all that’s needed is a small amount of support. At other times, it could be a different way of looking at something that wasn’t thought of before. For many clinicians case consultation can become part of your self care. Just having someone remind you of your strengths when you have a challenging caseload or validate that what you are doing or thinking is on target, can give you the professional encouragement.

Case consultation can be beneficial to therapists when they feel stuck with a particular case or therapeutic approach. We offer individual and group consultations to other clinicians who are seeking additional support either in private practice or within the non-profit sector.
